Pussy Riot, Let This Be A Lesson, Our Faith Is Not A Joke

I have been somewhat amused at the coverage, which the western media has given to the conviction of the three members of the punk rock band, Pussy Riot.  The western media have almost all chosen to portray the conviction of these three band members as the criminal act, not their actions.  Western media has implied, through their silent refusal to condemn the behaviour of these band members in the Moscow Cathedral, that they condone the offensive behaviour of these three.

On the other hand media channels such as Alazeera, Russia Television and Euro News presented a more balanced report, both highlighting the offensive nature of the band members actions in the Moscow Cathedral, while also drawing attention to the alleged reason for these three behaving in this way.  Completely unlike the western media who clearly had no interest whatsoever in providing a balanced news report for its viewers, but wanted instead to use this event as an opportunity to attack Putin.

Pussy Riot’s behaviour simply cannot be condoned.  I considered it to be blasphemous and extremely offensive.  They could have achieved their objective without having to violate the sanctuary of the Moscow Cathedral and, quite frankly, I believe that they deserved the sentence they received.  The world must learn that our faith is not a joke.  It offends me more than I can express when I hear and see the way that our Christian faith is constantly treated as simply unimportant and irrelevant by the world.

A blogger who I follow has today posted a blog, which says pretty much what I think needs to be said on this subject.  You can read it at the blog: “ReluctantSinner”.
