Why Are Cats So Extra Special?

Charlie Nel

I am an absolute cat fanatic. I love animals in general. I can spend days on end watching wildlife and birdlife without getting bored at all. Cats are however extra special to me. All cats, but domestic cats more so because one can grow so much closer to them.

Sex In Heaven

Are our souls genderless? This question was prompted by a tweet from someone who I follow on Twitter. The tweet read: “Ironic that many 'religious' people disapprove of same-sex unions. Yet believe that the 'soul' is genderless.”

Killing Children Legally

Belgium Extends Euthanasia to Children

I felt sick when I read that Belgium had, on Thursday 13 February 2014, passed a law that permitted children to ask to be euthanised. What kind of sick society have we become that we think it is morally acceptable and responsible of us to allow our children to make a decision to end their lives?

I was referred to a Blog, written by Sr. Sue Rakoczy, about the decision of the National Catholic Reporter to end online comments on its website. The National Catholic Reporter announced its decision to suspend online comments on 6 January 2014.

I know that Nelson Mandela signed into law one of the most liberal abortion laws in the world. This fills me with deep sadness. Millions of innocent babies have been killed in South Africa because of this law.

Spotted a Malachite Kingfisher, like the one in this photo, yesterday in my back garden. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera on hand, which was really disappointing. There were 5 other witnesses but it's really no fun unless I have a photo.

If We Are Sheep, We Overcome

St John Chrysostom

The second reading of Matins for today, Thursday of Week 34 in Ordinary Time, was a homily of St John Chrysostom. He was born in AD 347 and died in AD 407. He was Archbishop of Constantinople and is one of the early Church Fathers. The homily was so profound that I felt compelled to share it for the benefit of those who do not pray the Divine Office.

Save The Liturgy

What is this - maybe a clown Mass?

“Save the liturgy and save the Church may sound like a cliche from an entrenched blogger but there is quite a bit of truth to it and when coupled with a renewed sense of the truth of the Catholic Church, that we have in the Gospel fullness and that outside the Church there is no salvation, then the new evangelisation might actually bear some fruit in drawing back the lost and gaining new believers for Christ and His Church.”
