It was recently
raised as a matter of concern that Obama, while he was a senator in Illinois,
voted in 2001, 2002 and in 2003, against the “Born Alive Infants Protection
Act”. Newt Gingrich raised this during a debate on Ash Wednesday.
Newt Gingrich is
of the opinion that by voting against the “Born Alive Infants Protection Act”,
Obama was effectively voting to legalise infanticide. Under current Illinois
laws, if a baby is born alive, after an attempted abortion, and the doctor
believes that there is no ‘sustainable survivability’, the doctor may kill it
or just simply leave the baby unattended to die. Effectively the doctor can treat
the newborn baby like medical waste.
The purpose of
the “Born Alive Infants Protection Act” was to get these babies recognised as
human persons the moment they are born and, in doing so, to provide them with the
same legal protection that all human persons enjoy. This would as a result make
it illegal for doctors to either kill the baby after birth, or to refuse to
treat the baby.
You know what I
think? The world is going mad! Who in his or her right mind would not consider
a baby, who has been born alive, to be a human person? Who would not want to
treat and protect that little baby? What kind of person would actually vote,
not once, not twice, but three times, in favour of protecting the doctors who
kill, instead of in favour of protecting the innocent little new born babies?
There can be no
doubt whatsoever, that you have got be a very, very sick man, to vote like
Obama did, on three separate occasions! I am sure that even the fictional character,
Dr Hannibal Lecter, the murdering cannibal, from the movie the Silence of the
Lambs, would have been more humane and would have voted to protect the babies!
Obama clearly
has some extremely frightening views. When he was challenged about his position
on the “Born Alive Infants Protection Act”, he argued that a baby is not a
human person until the baby has achieved a viable age. What? Obama, you clearly need some basic concepts clarified. I challenge
you to go down to one of the maternity wards at a hospital and tell a mother, face to face, that
her premature baby is not a human person! I guarantee that you would soon have no doubt whatsoever of when a baby becomes a human person. (You may however find it safer to climb into a cage full of hungry lions, than risk telling mothers there newborn babies are not human persons!)
The sad thing
about this is the fact that Obama is not alone in his views. He was elected the
president of the USA. Clearly many other people must feel the same way that he
does on this subject, if he managed to win the US presidential election,
despite his abhorrent views in this regard. We have to remain alert and not be
afraid to speak out, and never be fooled that anything is to minor to warrant
your prayers and active resistance.
If you would
like to read more on this go here. . .
In closing, I
must add that this news now leaves me a lot less surprised at the Obama
administrations implementation of the HHS mandate. Obama is clearly intent on
promoting a Culture of Death and is steadily working towards the achievement of
that objective. Sadly, he is not alone in his focus on the achievement of this
objective!
PS: By the way, the HHS mandate is the mandate,
which, if you are a South African Catholic, you will to date not have read
about it in our only Catholic newspaper – The Southern Cross. Despite appeals
that Catholics be informed about the HHS mandate, the newspaper has not published
one single article to date. No, I assure you, there is far more chance of you reading
about what the Holy Father may have done wrong or about some scandal involving the
Vatican, than you have of reading anything that relates in anyway to upholding
and defending the authoritative teaching of the Catholic Church on the subject
of contraception.
