Pope Emeritus Returns Home

Mater Ecclesiae Convent

Today Benedict XVI, Pope Emeritus, has returned to the Vatican to take up permanent residence at the Mater Ecclesiae Convent, which has just been restored.

I must say it gives me a great sense of relief knowing that the Pope Emeritus is now back at the Vatican. This is for no reason other than sentimental reasons. Knowing he is back at the Vatican gives one the sense of comfort that he is safely at ‘home’.

It is also good to hear, according to the Vatican Information Service, that Pope Francis went to welcome the Pope Emeritus home from his stay at the Apostolic Palace of Castel Gandolfo.
