Please don't forget to take a look at the new Catholic Social Network site. It is a proudly South African creation. It launched publicly on 1 November 2011 and already it has international members.
Here is an important extract, from the terms and conditions, that is worth noting about the site and which should give you comfort regarding the content and purpose of this Social Network Site.

There are a number of Catholic Websites with apologetic forums where issues can be debated and we will do out best to promote these and collaborate with them. This site is intended for constructive networking, the exchange of ideas and the provision of useful tools, information and resources to help build up the Church and promote a view of Catholicism which is in line with the magisterial teachings of the Catholic Church."
So this is definitely a social network site worth joining and supporting.
